Dear Parents and Guardians,
On Tuesday, May 19, 2020, the Ontario Minister of Education announced that schools would remain closed for the duration of this academic year due to ongoing health concerns related to COVID-19. Private schools have been directed to follow this mandate. Our plan, as is the Ministry’s plan, is to have the school open at capacity for September.
Therefore, Hudson College will continue to provide online instruction until the end of the academic year, adhering to the teaching schedules already in place for each grade. Our teachers remain dedicated to providing the most immersive remote learning lessons possible going forward. As stated before, we are proud of the efforts of everyone – students, staff, and parents – in these most unusual circumstances.
Our elementary students will receive final report cards, released to parents as scheduled on June 23. We are currently reviewing the format of the final report, as well as our assessment methodology for the third term. We will have more news to share on assessments and the final reports by the middle of next week.
Hudson is committed to celebrating our students’ achievements. Each class will have an end-of-year celebration to recognize their accomplishments and graduation into the next grade. These will most likely be scheduled over several school days (June 22 and 23, 2020, for sure, as well as possibly Friday, June 19). Again, we will discuss with staff and share a formal year-end schedule by June 1, 2020.
We will have special ceremonies for our SK and Grade 8 classes. For our Grade 8 students, it is an extraordinary academic year that marks an important milestone: the end of their elementary education! Hudson College will celebrate this significant achievement with a virtual Graduation Ceremony – more details to follow early next week.
Keep well and healthy,
Jeff and Rose
